Kibra MP Ken Okoth has asked youth in the area to focus on development activities and shun illegal groups which could undermine their future.
Speaking at Mchanganyiko Hall, Okoth said many idle youth are lured into illegal groups that in most occasions rise the levels of insecurity in the slum.
He said it was high time the youth denounced such groups and take advantage of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to implement income generating activities in the area.
“The youth should not feel that they have been abandoned or are not involved in development issues. Let them come up with proposals and we are here to support them,” he said.
The legislator called on leaders in both the National and County governments to formulate a common strategy that will fully engage the youth in development activities.
He called upon other elected leaders and religious leaders to work together and ensure that they give the youths the necessary advice so that they can be able to stand and empower themselves.
