Makueni Governor Professor Kivutha Kibwana has dared President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack local chiefs allegedly campaigning for NASA in the county.
Kibwana says that he will sue the President if he goes on to sack the said chiefs.
In an interview with the Star, the Makueni governor said that Uhuru has no right to threaten or intimidate local chiefs or leaders who are opposed to his government.
Kibwana claimed that President Kenyatta has sensed defeat and has resulted to threatening officials in his government who are opposed to his style of leadership.
“Let him (President Kenyatta) go on and sack the chiefs as he has threatened then we will meet in the corridors of justice,” Kibwana said as quoted by the Star.
The governor asked chiefs to ignore Uhuru’s threat and discharge their duties without fear.
He said that NASA government will champion the rights of local administrators if it wins next week’s general election.
On Tuesday during a rally in Wote, Makueni, Uhuru allegedly warned chiefs supporting NASA, saying that he will take actions against them once the general election is over.
President Kenyatta was quoted telling the chiefs that the motorbikes they are using is Jubilee’s property and that they have no business supporting NASA.
NASA top leaders among them flag bearer Raila Odinga have criticized Uhuru’s remarks, saying it is an act of desperation ahead of the next week’s general election.
