Speaking to the Star on phone, Kibwana vehemently denied the reports doing rounds all over the nation that he will be supporting Jubilee in the next polls. According to Kibwana, his party is still an affiliate of Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord).

“My position is that I am firmly in the Muungano party, which I head and which is a Cord affiliate,” Kibwana said as quoted by the Star.

In his speech at Sultan Hamud last week, Kibwana told president Uhuru Kenyatta that the people of Ukambani respect his office and he has no problems working with his government when it comes to development matters.

Kibwana, however, was misquoted as having declared to support UhuRuto’s re-election: “I think sometimes you are told that we are not very good people. We have a history with you for a long time and I don’t know where that history ended. You took some time, but you have come with good intentions,” said Kibwana.

He added: “You are our President. The people here respect authority because the Bible says we must respect authority. We are not those individuals who say they will not work with the national government.”
