The second term Wiper governor said his leadership focuses on the common 'mwanahchi'.

In an interview with a local daily on Monday, Kibwana said the successful development stories in Makueni are as a result of the good working relationship between his government and the people.

“Makueni people are the decision makers when it comes to serious matters like budget formulation,” Kibwana said.

Kibwana revealed that 80 percent of the development decisions in the county is reached after a wide consultation with the people.

“The constitution provides for public participation and that is what I strive to do as a governor,” he added.

The governor said that the success stories in the county’s agriculture, health and education sectors could not have been made if it were not for the Makueni people.

Kibwana’s Makueni County was voted among the best in terms of development during this year's devolution conference.

In July, all governors will be convening in Wote, Makueni for a benchmarking session with Kibwana’s government.

Kibwana says that the conference will provide an opportunity for other governors to learn on what has worked in Makueni.

“We are happy and are eagerly waiting for the day to exchange ideas and also learn,” the Wiper governor added.
