Kidero, while sacking six top inspectorate officers asserted that the department had embarrassed him and that they ought to be blamed for the grieved condition of the city.

"It is irritating that my officers keep requesting for bribes from innocent residents who are attempting to make a decent living. I will keep sacking them until I stay with individuals who are keen on delivering to," Kidero said.

The governor sacked the inspectorate department executive, Hillary Wambugu and five other senior officers that were responsible for the downtown area's operations.

The governor's move was startling in light of the fact that Wambugu was defended by City Hall when the County Assembly suspended him in June 2014 to allow investigations concerning assaults on MCAs and the general public by county inspectors commonly known as "kanjos."

Kidero was, however, under massive pressure from the city businessmen who threatened to handle the chaos themselves and blamed Kidero for permitting hawkers to increase political mileage.

“Genuine allegations have been brought up with respect to the negligence and possible impropriety from specific officers of the City Inspectorate Department. These officers solicit bribes to abet the current disorder, lawlessness, wanton garbage dumping, continued presence of bodaboda riders, illegal use of parking bays by matatus and hawkers downtown area causing insecurity and disorder in the city,” Kidero said.
