Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero is a man of many faces and has recently revealed plans to adopt a Kikuyu name to endear himself to Nairobi city voters.
The city boss revealed that he seeks to change his middle name to pursue more voters to reelect him. Kidero is in the process changing his name to Kariuki.
“If my name needs to change to Kariuki so that you can elect me, let it be. When a name does not sound that way, some of you just switch off the network,” Kidero stated.
Kariuki is a popular Gikuyu name meaning one who resurrects.
The move by Kidero is seen as a strategic bid for reelection.
Kidero made the announcement while in Ngara where he addressed mechanics, Jua Kali artisans and small traders in the area. He was also in the company of Jubilee MCAs during the visit.
Kidero launched construction and rehabilitation works on roads in Ngara that will cost Sh6.1 Billion.
