Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has told his rivals to attack him and spare journalists covering his events in the city.
The governor was reacting to the incident that happened in Dandora last Wednesday where journalists were stoned and injured during his tour in the region.
While addressing residents of Kabarage slums in Kangemi, he condemned and termed barbaric the incident which left one reporter with a deep cut on the head.
He further cautioned his supporters against retaliating and said that he stands for peaceful politics pegged on respect for others and differences based on ideologies.
According to him, it was immoral for leaders to dish out handouts to jobless youths to cause chaos during rivals rallies' which he said was a recipe for violence as these youths do not think of other ways of getting income.
He further called upon those doing campaigns to ensure the safety of journalists who should not be caught in the middle of their battles for political seats.
