Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has torn into nominated MP Johnson Sakaja, claiming that the lawmaker is "an academic dwarf."

Speaking on Sunday, the County Chief claimed that Sakaja's decision to bow out of the gubernatorial race was because he lacked required academic credentials.

“You remember Mr Sakaja wanted to be the governor but I told him not to waste our time because he does not have a degree certificate,” he said.

“If he wants to be a leader let him be an example to our children and go back to school and complete (his studies) before seeking a political seat. We cannot allow leaders to be bad examples to our children,” he added.

Sakaja had previously hinted at vying for the city's top seat, before he bowed out in favour of senator Mike Sonko.

The legislator will now be gunning for the Nairobi senatorial seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.

He will be facing off with ODM's Edwin Sifuna.
