Nairobi governor Evans Kidero is funding Kakamega politicians through proxies, Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali has said.
Washiali on Sunday said Kidero has “planted” MP aspirants in Mumias East and West and is planning to fund their rise to power “so they can clean up his name”.
He alleged that the former Mumias Sugar MD is funding the campaign of David Wamatsi for Mumias East MP and said that by doing so, Kidero aims at ending the mismanagement accusations put against him when he was at the helm of the troubled company.
Washiali said this on Sunday at a meeting with his supporters at Khabondi Primary School.
He also alleged that Kidero has “planted” other contestants in Mumias West and Matungu constituencies on the same agenda.
“I want to appeal to residents, especially sugarcane farmers, to vote wisely. People who contributed to the collapse of our only source of livelihood, the Mumias Sugar Company, have come back to fund the politics of this region for their own interests,” Washiali said.
“The former manager has sponsored candidates to safeguard his name and tarnish names of innocent people in regard to the mess at the Mumias Sugar Company.”
