Nairobi governor, Evans Kidero has joined the voice of concern and called for Kibera residents to embrace peace and tolerance.
Speaking on Saturday at Kibera SDA church, Kidero called on the congregation to be the agents of peace that the society highly demands.
"I call upon you to be peace ambassadors in your localities. Let us not be divided along the ethnic lines. It does not matter if you're a Nubian, Muslim, Christian or whichever the tribe. It is a high time we seriously embraced cohesion, peace, togetherness and unity. We are all one, so let us remain united," stated Kidero.
He further appealed to the slum residents to be open-minded when selecting their leaders come 2017, issuing that only leaders with proven track record deserve a second chance.
"I call upon members of the public to ensure that they elect sober and development conscious leaders. Leaders must learn to act and behave responsibly as they are role models to many," he added.
The county boss also flagged off the Nzohe Road repair and maintenance works, noting that his county had allocated Sh6.2 billion towards upgrading various feeder roads in the city-county.
