Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has claimed that cartels want him out of office.

According to Kidero, the people of Nairobi want him to remain in office but alleged cartels are fighting him.

Speaking on Wednesday morning during the Cheche show on Citizen TV, Kidero stated that cartels are fighting back his efforts to rid them out of the city.

"Cartels are the ones who want me out of city hall but not the people,"said Kidero.

Kidero who will be defending his seat on an ODM ticket said that he deserves a second chance to complete his projects initiated during the first term.

He cited sewer and water connections  as some of his achievements.

He is set to face stiff competition from Jubilee Peter Kenneth or Senator Mike Sonko.

Sonko and Kenneth are set to battle out for the Jubilee ticket during the primaries.

Other candidates in the race are Miguna Miguna who will be vying as an independent candidate.
