Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has conceded defeat.

Kidero who was at the inauguration ceremony of new governor Mike Sonko pledged to work together with the new county boss to see the prosperity of the city county.

"My fellow residents, several hours ago you came out in large numbers to make your voices heard in this second gubernatorial race," Kidero said.

"This morning I have spoken with the governor-elect Mike Sonko, and I have congratulated him on his victory and on him becoming the second governor of this great county of Nairobi."

Kidero assured Sonko of his support, adding that he was withdrawing from court his election petition that dismissed the Jubilee man's win.

"I withdraw my early petition and wish the incoming governor success and urge all those who supported me in my campaign and those who voted for me in not just congratulating the governor-elect, but also offer him support," he said.
