The county council of Nairobi and the strong leadership of Nairobi County governor, Evans Kidero has relieved 7 senior officials from the Nairobi County council who were in the Inspectorate Department on Friday, July 8.
The seven officers have been accused by the governor of leading other officials into sabotaging the governor's administration.
The 7 are also said to have been extorting business men and women before offering them services and taking bribes in forms of cash in order to protect some of the hawkers on the streets most of whom were hawking goods and services illegally.
Governor Kidero said that the very many officers responsible for the city's foul state as they were behind the garbage menace and increased number of city hawkers. Most of these hawkers have piled up on the walk ways forcing pedestrians to walk on the main roads and causing snarl ups and frequent accidents.
The county council of Nairobi are said to be pocketing millions from the hawkers as failure to part with 'kitu kidogo' often ended the victims in the mortuary or in hospital beds.
“Service delivery is key to the people of Nairobi County, unfortunately, service delivery has been hindered by a lot of negativity from some of the officials and staff who have tainted the good image Nairobi as a city has had due to their don’t care attitude,” said Kidero.
