Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has dismissed claims that there are plans to sell the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company.

Already, the county assembly is investigating claims that the company is set to be sold to a French company.

The water firm's workers have refused to go to work claiming that the county had hatched a plan to privatise the entity.

"There is absolutely nothing like that. If state bodies like NCWSC have to be privatised, it has to be in line with the Privatisation Act 2005 which was revised in 2012."

"So, there is absolutely no truth. These are people who want to introduce politics in the management of water in Nairobi," the governor said at the Methodist Guest House.
