Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero’s promise to bankroll Orange Democratic Movement activities across the country was not, after all, a fiction.

Earlier this year, KIdero promised to finance ODM presidential campaigns for party leader Raila Odinga.

On Saturday, Kideo is understood to have signed a cheque worth Sh500,000 for the ongoing Nyacheki ward campaigns in Kisii, a move which was lauded by campaign manager Senator Janet Ong’era.

“I want to confirm just like other ODM leaders, Kidero has been super instrumental in our Nyacheki campaigns. He has always responded whenever there is a need and the latest cheque isn’t the first or the last one,” Ong'era said in an interview with this writer.

“He is keen to see the party winning in major elections and hopefully his philanthropist will help us secure presidential elections. This is the spirit and hopefully we will have more well-wishers to pump in resources to see the party sustaining its future campaigns,” she added.

Mr. Kidero and his Mombasa counterpart Hassan Joho have been in the frontline campaigning alongside Mr. Raila Odinga.
