Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and West Mugirango MP James Gesami will be leading ODM campaigns this weekend in which they will focus on solidifying the party’s support base.
Kidero had previously pledged to support opposition leader Raila Odinga’s 2017 presidential bid and has been seen in many public functions organised by the Orange party.
Speaking to this reporter on Thursday, Gesami said they are scheduled to meet a group ODM elected MCAs in Nyamira, Kisii and Homa Bay counties on Friday before touring Migori County on Saturday.
“It’s true Kidero and I will be touring four counties in Nyanza so that we solidify our support base. We will be meeting MCAs before addressing rallies in various market centres,” he said.
“We thought it necessary because we have to put things in order at home before going out to look for votes and I am happy Kidero agreed to join me. We must find a solution on how to get more young people from Nyanza registering as voters,” he added.
He urged other elected leaders from the Nyanza region to rally for voter registration as a way of increasing numbers to face Jubilee Party in 2017.
“We need numbers and I think Nyanza has a potential of registering up to 3 million voters. As elected members, we must come out and help the party leader get to State House,” he said.
