Nairobi City County Governor-elect Mike Mbuvi Sonko and his Deputy Polycarp Igathe have taken oath of office.The duo were sworn-in at a colourful ceremony attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto, at Uhuru Park.Outgoing Governor Dr Evans Kidero and thousands of Nairobi residents also attended the event held.Speaking at the event, Kenyatta urged Kenyans to embrace peace and not allow to be incited to engage in violence and lawlessness.“Let us continue loving each other and living together peacefully as Kenyans. Let us always remain united,” Kenyatta said.Kidero handed over power, after conceding defeat, saying he would not contest Sonko's election in Court.Below are photos from the event, courtesy of PSCU.
