Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has revealed that his team will only support the stronger NASA aspirants for city elective seats.

Kidero's statement comes as cracks begin to emerge in the Nairobi Opposition camp among the various aspirants contesting for same seats.

The most recent was a confrontation between supporters of Nairobi tycoon Fred Oyugi aka 'Dor', and Jane Wangui at a NASA rally in Dandora Stadium, Nairobi, on Saturday.

Wangui was given the ODM nomination certificate after closely contested primaries, something Oyugi has challenged in court.

"While the matter is still in court and we all await the decision, it was quite clear from the crowd (during the Dandora rally) who was the stronger candidate," Kidero said, adding that they are still pushing for single candidates.

"This does not mean that we might achieve this by the end of the day. But even in instances where we will have more than one NASA candidate on the ballot, only the strongest will get the team's support," said Kidero.

Trouble at the Dandora rally began when Nairobi ODM branch Chairpeson George Aladwa tried to endorse Jane Wangui for the Embakasi North MP seat, only to be jeered by the supporters of 'Dor'.

"When you look at Makadara Constituency, for example, the combined votes of both ODM and Wiper candidates would have denied the TNA candidate victory," Kidero said.
