Nairobi governor Dr Evans Kidero now claims that the reason behind his criticism is because he is a Luo and not a Kikuyu.
Speaking in Soweto village in Kayole, Kidero said he had launched many life-saving projects but his critics will always continue to attack him because of his tribe and not lack of development.
“Those people are attacking me because of my tribe. [If] I was [on] the other side, I wouldn’t have been criticised," he said as quoted by The Star.
“The other day I asked them if they want me to change my name to Kariuki if that will make them love me,” he said.
The governor also called for equal distribution of ID's nationwide without discrimination on percieved strongholds.
“Issuance of IDs should be done fairly in all parts of the country. It should not be done only in some regions because some people have an interest there,” he said.
