Nairobi governor Evans Kidero can now take a sigh of relief after the High Court issued temporary orders to block an impeachment motion that was being made against him.

While making submissions before Justice Roselyne Aburili, Kidero's lawyers asked for the motion to be stopped because it had been politically motivated, submissions that eventually convinced the court.

“It is now official — we are not going to the assembly as we have the court order,”  said Governor Kidero's communication officer Walter Mongare.

However, the impeachment motion presented by Viwandani MCA Samuel Nyangwara held Kidero accountable for the county's huge debt, irregular awarding of county tenders as well as abuse of office.
