Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has accused the ruling Jubilee Party for campaigning along 'tribal alignments' in the race for Nairobi gubernatorial seat in 2017.
Speaking in Kibera on Saturday where he delivered water tanks to the locals, Kidero said that Jubilee was bound to fail if their campaigns were centered on such alignments in the county.
He further said that the race for Nairobi seat needed an individual like him and the failures of the Jubilee government were going to work against Jubilee party aspirants in the 2017 poll.
"Nairobi needs a person like me who will go a long way in addressing burning issues in the county. Currently, Jubilee party is campaigning along tribal lines and this will be their fall because the people are tired of the failures of the Jubilee government. The government is currently embroiled in corruption scandals that are only driving the youth to poverty," said Kidero.
Incumbent Kidero is currently facing an uphill task in retaining his seat after a host of aspirants declared their interest in vying for Nairobi top seat.
In the Jubilee party alone, several aspirants are eying the party's ticket including Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, Water CS Eugene Wamalwa, Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth and Johnson Sakaja.
Independent candidate Miguna Miguna has also shown interest in the seat and this leaves Nairobi politics the most heated towards 2017.
