Nairobi governor Evans Kidero and gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth were involved in a war of words when they met face to face for the first time since Kenneth's declaring his bid to vie for the governor's seat.
Speaking at the Ruiru ACK church on Sunday, Kidero cautioned Kenneth that he risked losing his respect from the people if he continued 'conceding grounds' and 'changing goal posts' for smaller political seats.
"My friend, welcome to Nairobi. I know you went to Murang'a but is now finalising your in-house affairs so that you can come here," Kidero said.
"But you must be very careful. You know you wanted the seat of the president. Now you are coming down instead of climbing the ladder, be careful because if you reach somewhere, you will go for an MCA seat," Kidero said.
However, Kenneth who spoke first had accused Kidero of offering Nairobians poor services.
"If we pass the other side, you see burst sewers, garbage is everywhere. If you want to come here, it takes you three hours. All these problems in Nairobi must be solved," he said.
The two will be in a heated race on August 8, a race that also includes former Raila Odinga advisor Miguna Miguna, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru and incumbent senator Mike Sonko.
