Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has said that he will lobby Members of Parliament to amend the constitution to create super counties which will then have a major say on key government decisions.
Kidero who was speaking during the ODM 10-at-10 anniversary celebrations in Mombasa on Saturday argued that Nairobi and Mombasa were the two counties to be elevated to this status due to their cosmopolitan density.
He said that the two counties would also be elevated to play a key role in deciding the president of the country during elections.
“If you do not win the super counties, you cannot become President,” he added.
Kidero said thatMombasa and Nairobi played the most crucial role in the country's administration as well as hosting the major economic institutions, adding that this had made them attract strong wars from individuals.
“Joho has been fought. I have been fought hard. We are fought because county 001 and county 047 are super counties."
Kidero was not on the programme of speakers for the day but was forced to talk after his supporters demanded that he addresses them.
