On Tuesday, the assembly rejected the nomination of Anastasia Mutuku and Patrick Olali on grounds that they had forged KCE exam certificates they presented while applying for the job.

According to the Star, Olali is a pastor nominated to represent people from the religious community while Ms Mutuku would represent women.

In a report by Justice and Legal Affairs Committee chairman Jaffer Kassam, the Kenya National Examinations Council had confirmed that the papers were fake.

“Mr Olali did not register nor sit the 1980 KCE examination at Bar-Kowino Secondary School under index number 61002038, as indicated in his papers,” he said.

The exam council further revealed that the examination centre, Bar-Kowino Secondary School of code 61002 did not exist in their database for the KCE examination in 1980.

Regarding Mutuku, the chairman said that she had also forged her papers as confirmed by KNEC.

“Mutuku did not register nor sit the 1990 KCE examination at Kambu Secondary School under index number 301770017,” said Kassam.

Six people had been nominated by Governor Kidero to join the authority.

Peter Mutua (representing business people), Gore Mohamed (CBOs), Mercy Osando (people with disability) and Ismael Khalif (youth) have already been approved.
