In a sitting that was chaired by Anyang Nyongo, Kidero had a hard time explaining a report that the AG said City Hall had accumulated funds ranging to over sh42 million that the county government cannot account for. The governor was further placed on the spot to deliver receipts of monies amounting to sh72 million that the county had collected from parking fees in the city.

Querying the expenditure, Boni Khalwale challenged Kidero to explain how his government spent such a huge amount in a limited period of time. Kidero in his defence said the indicated amount of sh42 billion in the audit report did not indicate that the county had spent all the raised funds. He further asked the senators not to rush into conclusions that the funds have been squandered noting that some financial documents were not availed at the time of report compilation.

In a move to relieve Kidero, Nyong’o affirmed that a special audit in the county government's accounts had been ordered in December 2015 and that the findings shall establish whether the monies had actually been misappropriated.
