Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has opposed a proposal to have Nairobi governed by the national government.
According to Kidero who was speaking on Tuesday, the idea was demeaning to Nairobi residents.
"It is wrong for people who do not even represent the people of Nairobi to try and change our ways of leadership and representation," he said.
Kidero's sentiments were echoed by his deputy Jonathan Mueke.
The leaders were speaking during the Wiper delegates conference held at Kasarani on Tuesday.
This comes after Murang'a Senator Kembi Gitura drafted the proposed Bill which gives the president powers to appoint a cabinet secretary to govern Nairobi.
