Evans Kidero has renamed a number of city roads after Kenyan heroines and heroes and commissioned construction of roads worth Sh6.5 billion aimed at reducing traffic.
Kidero renamed Forest Road after Nobel Prize winner Wangari Maathai in recognition of her campaign for a safe environment.
“It is good to recognise her work. Without Maathai Nairobi would not exist. Land grabbers could have taken Uhuru Park and Karura Forest,” he said on Wednesday.
