Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has dismissed the 2014/2015 Auditor General’s report, which indicated that the county misappropriated Sh20 billion during that period.
Kidero said it is not possible to steal such a huge amount from a county government.
He said such a loss would completely paralyse county operations.
“I am amazed by this report. It’s not possible for the county to misappropriate all the revenue it has. The report from the auditor is impractical,” the governor said at City Hall on Monday.
Kidero added that it would be impossible to pay county workers and run development project if the county lost Sh20 billion.
“Nairobi county collected Sh11 billion and received Sh12 billion from the national government in 2014/2015 FY, a total of Sh23 billion. If Sh20 billion had been looted, it would not have been possible to pay the workers,” he said.
