Bungoma millionaire Moses Nandalwe has accused Nairobi governor Evans Kidero by alleging that the city boss was sidelining the Luhya community in senior employment posts and denying them county government contracts.
Speaking at a funeral on Saturday in Matili, Kimilili constituency, Nandalwe said the governor had helped propagate the old narrative of giving the community odd jobs as watch guards and house helps in posh estates.
According to the Star, Nandalwe added that people in Nairobi needed to rally behind Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa in his bid for the governor’s seat so that there is change of management that will offer equal opportunity to the Luhya people.
"For a long time since independence, Luhyas have been known to be cooks, house helps and guards in posh estates. By Wamalwa being governor, we are optimistic that he will spearhead the Luhyas' agenda," he said.
This comes only a few days after Nandalwe dumped his former Ford Kenya party to join Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
