Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has slammed Cord over what he termed as violent behaviour and called on the country to respect the president.
Speaking at a funeral in Mutihi village, Kidero asked the public to be tolerant and respect the current government as their truly elected leaders.
He asked the people to exercise a moderate political stand and said that the present leaders needed support and not contempt.
"President Kenyatta and other elected leaders should not be abused or treated with contempt," said Kidero.
The governor further gave his stance by referring to Cord’s political rival President Uhuru Kenyatta as his close friend.
"It is no longer a secret. The President is my friend," he said.
The Nairobi Governor further showed his displeasure at the recent method Cord have been using to seek audience, further stating that demos were not the way to go for the country.
"I do not advocate violence at all and demonstrations should be stopped," he said.
This comes just two days before Cord’s Monday demo and such utterances will not be a welcome idea by the Cord faithfuls who expect loyalty and support from Kidero.
