Speaking at City Hall on Wednesday, the county boss urged house owners with uninspected structures to take advantage of the city's regularisation process currently in place to avert future losses that may result from demolitions. The governor also advised that the regularisation process was initiated in order to highlight on and point out areas of correction in buildings before due approval is issued.

‘'At the moment, sixty percent of Nairobi buildings, mostly in Kibera and Mathare area, have not been approved owing to the fact that the land on which the structures were built lack title deeds,’' Kidero stated.

On Tuesday, the county government of Nairobi brought down two buildings in Mathare, leaving close to 450 families homeless. The move comes at a time when a collapsed building in Huruma estate claimed over 49 lives and leaving others with permanent injuries.
