Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero is not taking his re-election bid for granted.
The county chief has unveiled a code through which voters registered in Nairobi can use to verify their voter registration status.
The code helps voters know if their voter registration details are captured well at the IEBC database.
To verify one's registration status, voters will be required to send their ID numbers to 22464.
Kidero is expected to defend his seat in 2017 and is facing stiff competition from Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru, Water Cabinet Secretary Eugine Wamalwa.
Others interested in the seat are nominated MP Johnson Sakaja and former adviser to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga Miguna Miguna.
The SMS platform will ease voters' access to registration information as it will limit travelling to IEBC registration centres to verify the same.
