Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero has warned rivals eyeing to unseat him in the August 8 polls against peddling propaganda against him.
Kidero instead wants his rivals to engage Nairobi residents on issue-based politis.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Sunday, Kidero claimed that his rivals are riding on malicious propaganda as they woo Nairobi voters.
The governor claimed that some aspirants are maligning his name by spreading false propaganda about his government.
He said that he will not be intimidated, adding that he remains the best suited candidate for the Nairobi top seat.
“It is unfair for my competitors to peddle propaganda against me and my government," he said, adding that his administration has performed well to deserve a second term.
Kidero exuded confidence that Nairobians would endorse him for a second term in the August 8 polls.
He urged Kenyans not to be swayed by empty promises made by politicians during the electioneering period.
The Nairobi governor also exuded confidence that the National Super Alliance (NASA) will form the next government in August.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee government should prepare to exit because NASA will form the next government come August,” he said.
Kidero is seeking re-election on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket in the August polls.
There have however been claims that ODM is grooming another candidate and that it is not automatic that Kidero will be endorsed on the Orange Party ticket.
The Nairobi top seat has attracted several aspirants majority of them from the ruling Jubilee Party.
Among the candidates eyeing to unseat Kidero are nominated MP Johnson Sakaja, senator Mike Sonko, former Starehe MP Margret Wanjiru, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, former Raila Odinga political advisor Miguna Miguna, businesswoman Esther Passaris and former National Assembly speaker Kenneth Marende.
