The end to a long life of suffering could be over for the Nairobi street children as Nairobi governor, Evans Kidero might have just come up with a solution to shelter them.
Addressing the residents out of Kibera Church of God, Kidero said he had already started plans to settle the children. He said he had written to the Ministry of Devolution and Planning to release money to buy land and build some houses for the street children.
‘‘The first time we walked peacefully on the streets in town was when the US president, Barrack Obama was in the country. I hear the street children had been taken away from the streets but after his departure, they came back. I believe these kids can be settled if the government has money,’’ said Edwin Mogita, one of the residents of the area.
Kidero, however, said that if the Ministry of Devolution releases the money needed, he will buy land in Ruai and build a centre where the children can call home. He also revealed that the ministry receives sh350 million per year and believes some of the money can be used to purchase 45 acres of land in Ruai
