Ex-Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero had projected increased cases of thuggery under the leadership of Governor Mike Sonko.
During a televised debate moments to August elections, Kidero insisted that should Sonko be elected, Nairobi would experience cases of robbery and general insecurity.
"Nairobi under Sonko would be hell. If he wins the seat, expect serious cases of robbery with violence and thuggery.
"The current Sonko Rescue Team would be behind all these. Take that to bank and that is not the kind of Nairobi we want," he said.
And true to Kidero's 'prophecy', cases of insecurity have deteriorated in the capital with Kenyans accusing county leadership of laxity.
Last week, Kenyans took their frustrations to social media, where they complained cases of broad daylight mugging by suspected criminals.
