Evans Kidero football tournament has kicked off in Nairobi's Dagoretti North constituency.
The Sh9.7 million million sports event is being held Riruta Stadium BP.
Kidero said such tournaments will be held across all the 17 constituencies in Nairobi County.
"It's a pleasure to join residents of Kawangware for an afternoon of amazing football," he said during the tournament's launch on Sunday.
"We are in Dagoretti North Sub County at the Riruta Stadium BP as the Nairobi Governor's Cup resumes. The overall winners will pocket Sh1.5 million, runners-up Sh1 million while third place finishers will get Sh500,000."
After the event, the best goal-keeper, top scorer and best player will receive 250,000 each.
Top teams in each of the 85 wards involved will get Sh50,000 while top teams in each of the 17 constituencies involved will get Sh100,000.
The tournament is aimed at sensitizing the youth against the use of drugs as well as scout for local footballing talent
