Nairobi's First Lady, Susan Mboya now wants the anti-graft probe team to urgently respond to her petitions challenging the move by the detectives to investigate her alongside her husband for alleged corruption scandals.
Ms. Mboya filed a constitutionally granted petition seeking to protect the rights of engaged women in the event that their spouses are placed under investigation for offenses such as corruption.
Through her lawyer, Tom Ojienda, Ms. Mboya on Monday stated to the High Court that her petition raised numerous fundamental issues revolving on the Kenyan Constitution, hence the urgent need for the Ethics and Anti-Graft Commission (EACC) to immediately respond so that the case hearing could commence.
''We can never proceed this way because the EACC has neither filed any submission nor a reply,” said Ojienda.
Ms. Mboya wants the investigations against her declared unconstitutional, citing that proceeding with the exercise will render her tantamount to discrimination solely on the basis of gender and marital status.
