Kidney failure patients in Kiambu County have a reason to smile after 9 renal doctors from United States arrived to help fight against the disease that has been a cancer in the country.
The nine doctors who were welcomed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) will undertake a pilot project in the county for Kidney dialysis and transplant with patients from the county receiving services at a considerable price.
According to Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, the Kidney care centre which is set to be established in the county will provide dialysis services to thousands of suffering kidney patients.
“The county governments’ Medical Strategic Plan indicates that kidney care will be established in Kiambu town to help benefit families and people suffering from the disease and the coming of the doctors is evident enough the county is in full gear to kick kidney failure out,” said Kabogo.
He said that the kidney related disease has been rampant not only in Kiambu County but the entire nation and he is keen in preventing the killer disease.
Kabogo, who was speaking on Saturday morning at JKIA airport in Nairobi County, said that he has toured many public hospitals in Kiambu County and many families have lost their loved one due to the kidney related infections that will soon be eradicated.
Kiambu county health minister Jonah Mwangi who was in the same meeting said that the dialysis will help thousands of people suffering from kidney failure and also boost economy of the county.
