Jean-Pierre Nimbona alias Kidum on Saturday made his first public appearance after allegedly being poisoned in Burundi.
Kidum performed at the Sarova White Sands Hotel in Mombasa, entertaining his eager fans.
Also present during the event was Agriculture and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri who seemed to enjoy the vocals.
Kidum who was named Best Male Artist of East Africa at the 2012 Kora Awards, terned the poisoning incident as unfortunate and further thanked the Mombasa-based hotel for good hospitality towards him and his team.
Speaking after the performance, Kidum thanked the hospitality team at the Sarova white sands hotel for taking care of him following the poisoning incident in Burundi which he attributes to his detractors.
“It was a very unfortunate incident and I would like to thank God for helping me pull through," said the singer, citing the poisoning incident.
"The hospitality team at the White Sands Hotel and my fans who were confident and showed up to see me perform, thank you," he added.
A week ago, Kidum revealed the poisoning incident to the public when he was about to leave his mother country, Burundi.
He took to social media, posted photos of him in hospital, saying:
‘’I was about to be discharged but the hospital has just changed that decision because they have just discovered that the poison has spoilt my kidneys. Pray for me. My enemies have to be defeated by your prayers. Yesterday i was discharged but the officials of Kenya airways decided not to let me travel because of my condition. So i was brought back to hospital and now i am not allowed to go. I am in this hospital to stay the way i see it."
