The tenants carrying placards demanded the intervention of the area public health officer after their attempts to have the Landlord fix the burst sewer failed.

They said that the Landlord had put up water pipes on top of a sewer line that burst early last week spewing its content into the water pipes thus exposing them to dangers of contracting dangerous diseases.

The landlord fled when the angry demonstrators matched to his residence within the same estate forcing the protestors to take to the Super- highway before an Officer with the Thika Water Sewerage Company intercepted them and sought to address their problem.

Francis Mwaura who is the Officer In-charge of Production and Quality accompanied the protestors to the apartment where he discovered that the sewer line was spilling its content into pipes carrying drinking water into the households.

He immediately ordered for the disconnection of the water supply to the apartment pending the arrest of the landlord.

Mwaura further called the Public Health Officers on phone to inspect the apartment. The Public Health Officials rushed to the scene and collected water samples to take to the government chemist for analysis.

The fate of the tenants led by their spokesman was still unknown as the Public Health Officers threatened to evict them and shut down the apartment until further notice.
