Kamenu youths with various acting talents have been advised to make use of them as it could help them earn a living and make a difference in their lives.
Thika District Business Association (TDBA) Secretary General Sam Chege alias MC Sam, speaking at Kiganjo Catholic Church on Sunday during a talent show organised by the church noted that arts have become a full-time career in Kenya that many are depending on to earn a living.
"The time we used to discourage our children from some of these things is now behind us. The entertainment industry is now becoming a lifeline for many people in Kenya and it is high time that those with talents in this field are helped to nurture them," said Chege.
He observed that since Kenya shifted from analogue television broadcasting to digital broadcasting many TV stations have come up which require a big percentage of local content.
"Most of this local content I understand falls under entertainment. So, those with various acting talents should see this as an opportunity to exploit," Chege said.
He further noted that with the advent of vernacular TV stations, talented thespians whose work could not make it to the mainstream stations now have an alternative.
