Gatundu North MP Kigo Njenga has defended the National Assembly's move to reject Secretary to the Cabinet nominee Dr Monica Juma.
Addressing journalists on Thursday after the budget proceedings, Kigo claimed that the inaccessibility of Dr Juma while she was the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Interior is what cost her job.
“I represent more than 150,000 people from Gatundu North. If I cannot take their problems and complaints to the PS in charge of the Office of the President, of what help is that person to me as the representative of Gatundu North people?” said Kigo.
He added that the rejection was a message to the other public servants with the same attitude to be humble and respect the people’s representatives.
He however said that Dr Juma was knowledgeable and up to the task.
“We have lost a bright woman but we will get another one to replace her,” he said.
Commission for the implementation of the constitution (CIC) chairman Charles Nyachae has said that they will go to court to challenge the parliament's decision.
