Naivasha Member of Parliament John Karanja has denied reports that he was injured during Monday’s skirmishes that pitted him against the residents of Kayole in Naivasha. In his official Facebook page, the Naivasha lawmaker termed the claims by the media as false. The post read in part, “To my supporters, I am safe. Despite the lies peddled by the media, nobody whipped me in yesterday’s melee.” Kihagi accused the two Members of County Assembly accompanying him of panicking when they realized that he was about to deliver 2000 title deeds to the people of Naivasha. “They are not amused that both the Naivasha Technical Training Institute and The Naivasha Medical Training College will open in March and September respectively. The success in the stadium, the Ngati, Maiela land issue and the Karagita Beach is giving them nightmares,” he claimed. Kihagi further challenged two former councilors to get their acts together; citing that they will solder on regardless. He called on them to account for the land grab of the stadium and the double allocation of land at Longonot. Kihagi and Lakeview Member of County Assembly Simon Wanyoike Wanago had confronted each other on Monday morning after residents claimed that he had taken money from them in the promise of helping them acquire title deeds.
