Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has warned the county Government of Nakuru against discriminating in its education bursary allocation.
Speaking over the weekend when she graced the launch of the Kivumbini University and College Students (KUCSA) in Kivumbini Ward, Kihika said the county bursary should be given to all the bright but needy students.
“I’ve received reports that the county government bursary is being given to only the students who have attained grade C minus and above. Why deny another needy child the bursary? The poor performance may have been occasioned by the poverty in the home and no one has the right to punish such a child,” said Kihika.
The senator was reacting to an earlier statement by Charles Maisib, the county bursary committee chairman.
Maisiba had in his address explained that the county bursary allocation was only for those students who had achieved a certain mark.
His remarks had not been well received by the residents.
