Former Nakuru North MP Kihika Kimani's daughter was on Wednesday arraigned before a Nakuru court for malicious destruction of property worth Sh19 million.
Catherine Kihika was accused of committing the crime at Kenya Sports School on September 16 last year in the company of others who were not in court.
She was charged on a second count of being found in possession of stolen property which were said to belong to the school.
She was arrested at Mwariki Estate, Nakuru Town East sub-county on July 26.
Kihika, a sister to Nakuru county speaker denied both charges before Chief Magistrate David Kemei.
The prosecution asked the magistrate to have the accused remanded for the investigations to be concluded.
“I want to ask this court to have the accused remanded at the Central Police Station for investigations to be concluded. She was presented before court today to comply with the 24 hour deadline of arrested persons. Some of the items stolen have not been recovered and if released, the accused is likely to interfere with investigations,” said state prosecutor Hillary Sungoiyo.
The court accepted the application and she was denied a bond. She will be remanded till August 1 when the case will be mentioned.
