Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Susan Kihaki has asked Members of County Assembly (MCAs) to focus on serving the people, apart from their oversight roles.

Addressing locals at Molo town on Saturday, the speaker said that MCAs have a big role to play in matters development.

The Speaker stated that MCAs are the government representatives at the Ward levels and must support development

“Nakuru MCAs should work with other leaders in order to ensure locals have access to quality services,” said Kihika.

Kihika added that MCAs must present the grievances of the people to the county assembly, at the same time calling for unity among county leaders, stating that development will not be achieved if there exist wrangles.

The Speaker observed that Nakuru has the potential of expanding its economic to greater heights, if leaders commit themselves to serving the people.

Meanwhile, Kihika wants women to use the funds being provided by the county government to empower themselves.

She said that women are an important pillar to the society, and empowering them is empowering the whole society.

The Speaker pledged to fight and promote the rights of women in the assembly, adding that other women leaders should put the interests of women first.
