Nakuru senator Susan Kihika has put on notice two companies operating in Naivasha.
Kihika said the Standard Gauge Railway and the Kengen companies which are running projects in Naivasha must benefit the local community through employment.
"We are putting these two companies on notice. They cannot be based here and are not giving jobs to our youth," said the senator.
Residents and local leaders had expressed their frustration with the two companies saying the local youth were being denied jobs.
Kihika spoke during a burial of a Kenyan nurse who was murdered in Germany in January. The nurse, Mary Waithera, hailed from Kayole in Naivasha.
She was murdered in her shop in Essen town Germany where she runs a shop for Kenyan products.
