Nakuru County Speaker Susan Kihika has urged youths to avoid leaders spreading hate speech.
Kihika said the leaders are after their own selfish interest and were not pro-peace which could be detrimental in the area.
“As a cosmopolitan town, we should be very careful about the messages we talk to the youths and what we encourage them to do. Nakuru is made up of so many tribes and it is uncouth to incite people against each other," Kihika said.
She was speaking on Saturday at the Nakuru chapati forum at Ngala school for the deaf where she challenged youths to continue with their peace initiatives, saying that they were the ones who know the cost of peace.
“Majority of the people who were killed during PEV were youths. They were the ones who were displaced and even maimed by the brutality of the war. They should abhor any person who wants to take them back to the dark era,” she added.
