Nakuru County Assembly Speaker Susan Kihika has called on residents to share the little they have with the less fortunate to ensure that everybody gets something special as Christmas festivals gain momentum.
Speaking in her office on Wednesday after launching her Christmas sharing programme aimed at donating foodstuffs, clothes and other items to the less fortunate families and residents of informal settlements in the county, Kihika called on anyone willing to join ship so as to leave an impact and touch a heart this Christmas season.
“This programme will see me, a team from the county assembly, friends and other donors visit many under privileged families across the county during this festive season,” she said.
In a timetable of events seen by this writer, the team visited Molo sub-county’s Elburgon and Turi wards on Wednesday before moving to Kiptangich in Kuresoi North and is expected to traverse sections of Gilgil and Naivasha Sub Counties on Thursday before pitching camp in Rongai’s Soin ward and Nakuru West’s Kwa Rhonda and London slums on Friday.
On Saturday; which is the final day of the programme will see the team visit Waseges in Subukia then finalise in Kia Maina informal settlement of Bahati.
Kihika was eager to applaud the contributions of external corporates including the Co-operative Bank Nakuru branch and Menengai Oil Refineries who have joined to facilitate the programme.
The programme will see specific families receive foodstuff such as cooking fat, soap, blankets, lessos, sanitary pads, bed sheets among others.
