Nakuru County assembly speaker Susan Kihika has called for the arrest and prosecution of all those involved in causing the death of five teenagers at Salgaa on New Year ’s Eve.
Speaking at Njoro Park during an interdenominational prayer and requiem mass for four of the five victims, Kihika insisted that action should be taken against three bar owners who allegedly sold alcohol to the teenagers despite knowing they were minors.
She also recommended investigations against a police officer who is alleged to have hired his saloon car to the teenagers, the car which later robbed the youngsters their lives after it lost control and rammed onto an oncoming passenger bus, a situation police said was necessitated by drunk driving by the teenagers.
The administration officer Julius Kioko who is based in Njoro has so far conceded that the ill-fated car was his but denied hiring it out to the deceased.
The five who perished included Bill Kamau, Kevin Kamuru, Brian Kariuki, Derrick Mbugua and Dominic Mwangi who was however buried on Wednesday.
The interdenominational prayers and requiem mass was organised by the county government and religious leaders and was attended by several county leaders led by Governor Kinuthia Mbugua.
